The AGES Laparoscopic Pelvic Anatomy Demonstration Workshop is suitable for all levels of RANZCOG trainees and specialists.
It is designed as a single day, intensive, pelvic anatomy primer, for those wishing to expand their knowledge of what lies beneath pelvic and abdominal peritoneum.
AGES wishes to address the difficulty in accessing quality anatomy teaching by providing a number of courses that focus on a laparoscopic approach to pelvic anatomy.
The demonstration course will allow forty registrants to participate in lectures, watch live surgery and interact with highly skilled laparoscopic surgeons as they delve into the anatomical aspects of the female pelvis.
The dissection is performed on donated fresh frozen cadavers at the Medical Engineering and Research Facility (MERF), Queensland University of Technology (QUT) facility in Brisbane.
These highly interactive presentations, followed by the relevant focussed dissections will be performed on six compartments of the pelvis and abdomen. All participants will be provided with pre-reading and copies of the presentations a week prior to the workshop.
Registrants can expect to increase their anatomical knowledge and awareness allowing for improved surgical outcomes and reduced complications for their patients.
Aims & Objectives
- Learn and review the Anatomy of the pelvis, pelvic sidewall and rectosigmoid
- Observe the laparoscopic cadaveric dissection of significant abdominal and pelvic structures
- Relate the anatomy to common laparoscopic procedures and apply this knowledge
