Dr Michael Wynn-Williams
Dr Michael Wynn-Williams is a Specialist Gynaecologist who has been working with women and their families in Queensland for over 11 years. He favors a multidisciplinary approach to the management of complex gynaecology cases, including using his extensive experience in advanced reproductive endosurgery and minimally invasive pelvic surgery.
It was in Christchurch, New Zealand that Michael trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and developed his interest in endometriosis management. Post-training, he undertook a two-year Fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery with A/Prof Alan Lam in Sydney.
Michael backed up his sub-specialty training with a post-fellowship year in Glasgow before completing a two-year consultant post at Cambridge University NHS Trust, Addenbrookes Hospital. Sharing his knowledge and skills with the next generation of women’s health specialists, Michael taught and demonstrated advanced laparoscopic Gynaecology surgery to doctors around the United Kingdom and Ireland. He continues to teach and demonstrate advanced laparoscopic surgery around Australia and New Zealand.
Michael is a co-founder and a Director of Eve Health, Australia’s largest O&G group practice. He provides private surgical services at the Mater Private, and the Wesley Private Hospitals. He provides Public surgery at the Mater Hospital to complex cases from around Queensland, northern NSW and the Northern Territory. Michael is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Queensland. He provides fertility treatments through Queensland Fertility Group. Michael has a Fellow he is training to perform advanced laparoscopic gynaecology surgery under the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society(AGES) under a two-year training program. In 2017, he helped initiate Queensland’s only public dedicated Persistent Pelvic Pain Clinic at the Mater Hospital.
Always striving to progress his learning and increase his ability to provide the best care for women, Michael has become qualified in the use of the Da Vinci Robotic surgical system. Following his passion in teaching, he developed the AGES Laparoscopic Cadaveric Pelvic Anatomy program that is run through Medical Engineering Research Facility at Queensland University of Technology. Michael was elected to the AGES board in 2017.
