DESCRIPTION:The changing medical landscape over the last few months has highlighted the responsibility of the surgeon and the health facility to protect the surgical team from occupational hazards in the operating theatre. We have also had a timely reminder that our physical health is one of the greatest assets for career longevity and quality of performance. \n\n\n\nWith this in mind\, AGES will be hosting a webinar on the evening of Thursday\, 16th July focusing on two occupational hazards in theatre: \n\n\n\nSurgical plume/aerosolized particles and;Ergonomic hazards\n\n\n\nWe will welcome Menna Davies\, nurse consultant (FACORN\, FACN)\, to present an update on the latest technology for safely managing smoke evacuation and surgical plume.  \n\n\n\nWe also look forward to Margaret Land\, a physiotherapist with a special interest in surgical ergonomics\, who will present her experience on the ergonomics of minimally invasive surgery and how to mitigate some of the physical risks of the surgeon-workplace interface. \n\n\n\nLastly\, Dr Devini Ameratunga (FRANZCOG) will present on assessing theatre equipment for a diverse surgical population and her tips and advice for finding the best surgical equipment for your individual needs.  \n\n\n\nAGES Webinar on Protecting the Surgeon and Surgical Team – held in conjunction with StrykerThursday\, 16th July 20205.00pm AWST6.30pm ACST7.00pm AESTTo register\, please click here

The United States has seen a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases\, therefore Jubilee can offer significant insight from her experience. Dr Brown will be addressing a number of issues including the safety of surgery\, most specifically MIS in COVID-19 cases.  \n\n\n\nThe second presenters include Dr Belinda Lowe\, Dr Rebecca Szabo and Prof Victoria Brazil\, simulation experts from Melbourne and the Gold Coast. Dr Belinda Lowe\, RANZCOG Fellow\, Dr Rebecca Szabo (speaker at the AGES ASM 2020)\, RANZCOG fellow and Prof Victoria Brazil (also a speaker at the AGES ASM 2020) is an ACEM fellow. All are simulation experts and they will run through a scenario of donning and doffing PPE and theatre preparedness for gynae emergencies with COVID-19 so we can best protect ourselves during surgery. \n\n\n\nOur last speaker of the evening is Julie O’Reilly from William Buck.
