Trainee Assessment Requirements

Documentation Requirements
Each trainee will be required to complete the following assessments over each 6-month period of their training:
Form 1 Training Assessment Record (TAR)
Online form to be submitted every 6 months by August 31 and February 28.
Form 2 Training Supervisors 6 Monthly Trainee Report
Online form to be submitted by Training Supervisors every 6 months. Once received by the AGES Secretariat this Form will be forwarded to the Training Director to enable completion of Form 3.
Form 3 Training Director 6 monthly Trainee Report Summary
Online form to be submitted by the Training Director (after being discussed with the Trainee) every 6 months by August 31 and February 28. This form is a collation of all the training supervisors reports (refer Form 2) which will be sent to the Training Director by the AGES Secretariat. Please do not submit Form 3 until you have received the copies of Form 2 from the AGES Secretariat.
Assessment of Procedural Skills (APS)
- Two summative APS online forms to be submitted by February 28 following completion of training
- One must be for total laparoscopic hysterectomy and the second can be any one of the following:
- Laparoscopic excision stage IV endometriosis
- Laparoscopic Pelvic Floor Repair
- Laparoscopic Myomectomy (an intramural myoma of >5cm diameter with layered suture repair)
- Laparoscopic lymphadenectomy
Research
Each trainee is required to complete a research project during their two-year training program.
The research program is deemed automatically passed if the project is published in a peer reviewed journal, with the trainee as first author.
Where the trainee is not first author, submission for consideration of assessment will be required, including a statement to the Chairman of Education as to the trainee’s role in the project. The trainee may be required to present their research and their roles, responsibilities and understanding of the principles of research to a panel to be chosen by the Chairman of Education.
Presentation at a Scientific Meeting
To meet this requirement, the trainee must have presented at one of the following:
- An AGES affiliated scientific meeting (ASM/Pelvic Floor/Focus)
- The AAGL annual meeting
Trainee Recognition
Training Documentation for each Trainee is reviewed every 6 months by the AGES Training Committee.
Certificates of Recognition are awarded to each successful trainee at the AGES ASM in the year following the completion of their requirements. All trainees are expected to attend the ASM to receive the document.
