DESCRIPTION:The changing medical landscape over the last few months has highlighted the responsibility of the surgeon and the health facility to protect the surgical team from occupational hazards in the operating theatre. We have also had a timely reminder that our physical health is one of the greatest assets for career longevity and quality of performance. \n\n\n\nWith this in mind\, AGES will be hosting a webinar on the evening of Thursday\, 16th July focusing on two occupational hazards in theatre: \n\n\n\nSurgical plume/aerosolized particles and;Ergonomic hazards\n\n\n\nWe will welcome Menna Davies\, nurse consultant (FACORN\, FACN)\, to present an update on the latest technology for safely managing smoke evacuation and surgical plume.  \n\n\n\nWe also look forward to Margaret Land\, a physiotherapist with a special interest in surgical ergonomics\, who will present her experience on the ergonomics of minimally invasive surgery and how to mitigate some of the physical risks of the surgeon-workplace interface. \n\n\n\nLastly\, Dr Devini Ameratunga (FRANZCOG) will present on assessing theatre equipment for a diverse surgical population and her tips and advice for finding the best surgical equipment for your individual needs.  \n\n\n\nAGES Webinar on Protecting the Surgeon and Surgical Team – held in conjunction with StrykerThursday\, 16th July 20205.00pm AWST6.30pm ACST7.00pm AESTTo register\, please click here

Please visit the members tab of the AGES website or click here to join or renew now** \n\n\n\nSaturday 29th August 2019MERF\, Brisbane – 0730 – 1700  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe AGES Laparoscopic Pelvic Anatomy Demonstration Workshop is suitable for all levels of RANZCOG trainees and specialists. \n\n\n\nIt is designed as a single day\, intensive\, pelvic anatomy primer\, for those wishing to expand their knowledge of what lies beneath pelvic and abdominal peritoneum. \n\n\n\nAGES wishes to address the difficulty in accessing quality anatomy teaching by providing a number of courses that focus on a laparoscopic approach to pelvic anatomy. \n\n\n\nThe demonstration course will allow forty registrants to participate in lectures\, watch live surgery and interact with highly skilled laparoscopic surgeons as they delve into the anatomical aspects of the female pelvis. \n\n\n\nThe dissection is performed on donated fresh frozen cadavers at the Medical Engineering and Research Facility (MERF)\,  Queensland University of Technology (QUT) facility in Brisbane. \n\n\n\nThese highly interactive presentations\, followed by the relevant focussed dissections will be performed on six compartments of the pelvis and abdomen. Each participant will have the opportunity to operate\, assist and observe to optimise the learning experience as they rotate evenly through each step. \n\n\n\nThe course will focus on demonstration of the pelvic sidewall dissection with a particular focus on the surgical layers and surgical spaces with the anatomical structure contained within them. Retroperitoneal spaces around the bladder\, pelvic floor\, large bowel and kidneys will all be explored. \n\n\n\nThe registrants will have the opportunity to complete the anatomical dissection required to perform a Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy. DESCRIPTION:Focus Meeting 2021 Website & RegistrationsFocus Meeting 2021 ProgramThe AGES Focus Meeting 2021 will be our first conference of the year and is set to be an innovative and thought-provoking meeting! For the first time in AGES’ history the Local Organising Committee is compiled fully of AGES Accredited Training Program Graduates from across Australia\, whom have put together the meeting\, titled “New Generation” to be held on the 5th and 6th of March 2021. \n\n\n\nWhilst the world is slowly progressing to COVID-19 normal\, we are mindful the challenges faced in 2020 are still present and we are yet to return to our normal method of conferencing. The Focus Meeting 2021 will be offered as a Hybrid event\, we aim to host mini-sites in multiple locations throughout Australia (pending government regulations and advice) and will offer a virtual component for those who are unable to join us in person. \n\n\n\nThe AGES Focus 2021 organising committee have developed a program highlighting many of the current issues faced by all\, including advances in gynaecological practices\, challenges with research and collaboration and confronting cultures issues. We have a spectacular team of international and local speakers\, including Natasha Anandaraja and Linda Bradley from the USA\, Nick Bourdel from France and Silvia Vannuccini from Italy.
