SUMMARY:AGES Virtual Lap-Demonstration Workshop 2024 - May
DESCRIPTION:The AGES Laparoscopic Anatomy & Pelvic Demonstration Workshop is suitable for all levels of RANZCOG trainees and specialists.   \n\n\n\nIt is a single day\, intensive pelvic anatomy primer for those wishing to expand their knowledge of what lies beneath the pelvic and abdominal peritoneum.  \n\n\n\nAGES aims to allow access to quality anatomy teaching by providing several courses that focus on a functional laparoscopic approach to pelvic anatomy.  The demonstration course allows for thirty registrants to participate in lectures\, watch live surgery and interact with highly skilled laparoscopic surgeons as they delve into the anatomical aspects of the female pelvis.   \n\n\n\nThe dissection is performed on female fresh frozen donors at the Medical Engineering and Research Facility (MERF)\, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) facility in Brisbane.   \n\n\n\nHighly interactive presentations are followed by relevant focused dissections. These are performed on six compartments of the pelvis and abdomen.   \n\n\n\nAll participants will be provided with pre-reading and copies of the presentations a week prior to the workshop.   \n\n\n\nRegistrants can expect to increase their anatomical knowledge and awareness allowing for improved surgical confidence and outcomes and reduced patient complications.  \n\n\n\nRegistrations are now open! \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease note when adding this event to your calendar\, the event will populate with a generic time. It is vital that you check the current program available on the event website for the correct program timings before making travel arrangements. DESCRIPTION:**This course is for members only. Please visit the members tab of the AGES website to join or renew now** \n\n\n\nThe Lap D Workshop is designed for Specialist and Trainee Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with laparoscopic skills who wish to expand their knowledge of pelvic and abdominal retroperitoneal anatomy while advancing their laparoscopic surgical dissection techniques.   \n\n\n\nAGES aims to allow access to quality anatomy teaching by providing workshops focusing on a functional laparoscopic approach to pelvic anatomy.  The dissection workshop allows eighteen (18) registrants to participate in lectures\, undertake anatomical dissection on female fresh frozen donors and interact with highly skilled laparoscopic surgeons as they delve into the anatomical aspects of the female pelvis.   \n\n\n\nAn introductory lecture series is followed by two\, three hour operating and dissection sessions using fresh frozen female donors.  \n\n\n\nThe workshops are held at the Medical Engineering and Research Facility (MERF)\, Queensland University of Technology (QUT) facility in Brisbane.  \n\n\n\nThree participants are assigned to each donor and will be closely supervised by an experienced advanced laparoscopic surgical instructor. Each participant will be able to operate\, assist and observe to optimise the learning experience as they rotate evenly through each step.   \n\n\n\nThe workshop will focus on dissection of the pelvic side wall\, with particular emphasis on the surgical layers\, spaces and anatomical structures contained within.  \n\n\n\nRetroperitoneal spaces around the bladder\, pelvic floor\, large bowel and kidneys will all be explored.   \n\n\n\nAll participants will be provided with pre-reading and copies of the presentations a week prior to the workshop.   \n\n\n\nRegistrants are expected to confidently increase their anatomical knowledge and awareness\, allowing for improved surgical confidence\, outcomes and reduced complications for their patients.  \n\n\n\nRegistrations will be opening in 2024! Check back regularly for all updates about Lap-D in 2024!
