Dr Kirsten Connan
Dr Kirsten Connan is an obstetrician and gynaecologist with a specialist interest in pelvic pain, endometriosis, advanced laparoscopic surgery, high-risk pregnancies, and medical education.
Kirsten trained at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne, spending her last 18 months focusing on advanced laparoscopic surgery. Her early specialist years were in Melbourne where she held a public post in the Royal Women’s Hospital Endometriosis Unit under A/Prof Martin Healey.
Kirsten moved to Hobart in 2015 and is the director and owner of TasOGS, Tasmania’s first all-female O&G specialist practice, and in 2016 she won the Telstra Business Women’s Entrepreneurial Award for her business lead at TasOGS.
In 2017 Kirsten completed a Master of Clinical Education from Melbourne University with her thesis titled ‘Gender and Leadership in O&G in Australia and New Zealand’. In 2018 Kirsten accepted the role of deputy chair for RANZCOG’s Gender Equity and Diversity Working Group, and in 2019 was delighted to join the AGES board.
Beyond her clinical practice, Kirsten has interests in leadership training, organisational diversity, business excellence, and creating a sustainable future for our specialty.
